One of the dad's favs growing up. His mother's dish. I still don't know if I make it as good as her. But I think mine's pretty good! :) This can also be put in a 13 x 9 inch pan and baked for about 1 1/2 hours. Read more . Be sure to cover pan tightly with aluminum foil. Mashed potatoes go great with this... Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1/2 cup chopped celery |
1/2 cup chopped green peppers |
2 tbls oats |
2 tbls parsley |
1/4 tsp garlic powder |
3/4 tsp salt |
1/2 tsp pepper |
1 small head of cabbage-shredded |
1 15 oz. can of tomato sauce |
1/4 cup vinegar |
3 tbls brown sugar |
Directions:
1. Brown and drain beef, onion, celery, green peppers. 2. Stir into meat mixture oats, parsley, garlic powder, salt and pepper. 3. Put meat mixture into slo-cooker. 4. Place shredded cabbage on top. 5. Mix together tomato sauce, vinegar, brown sugar. 6. Pour over top of cabbage. 7. Cook on low for 8-10 hours. |
