I like keeping this on hand for when recipes call for chocolate syrup. It is much cheaper to make your own. You can serve this sauce over ice cream or use 1 to 2 tbsp in a glass of milk for chocolate milk. I have used different types of flavour extract (mint, orange, rum....) instead of vanilla to change it up every so often. Ingredients:
1/2 cup cocoa |
1 1/4 cups sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup water |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Combine cocoa, sugar, salt and water in saucepan. 2. Place over moderate heat and boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. 3. Remove from heat, cool slightly and add vanilla. 4. Store in a covered container in refrigerator. |
