I have made Sloppy Joe's my way for many years and have not made my recipe since finding this one about 6 months ago. Note: I never use as much water as called for when rinsing out the cans. I use maybe 4 tbsp total maximum ! I do use the green pepper, onions & a little mustard also. Hope you enjoy!!
Ingredients:
3 lbs lean ground beef
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed french onion soup
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar (i use slightly less than a 1/4 cup)
1 small green pepper, diced (optional)
1 small onion, diced (optional)
1 teaspoon yellow mustard (optional)
10 hamburger buns
Directions:
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef; onions and green pepper if using. drain fat.
2. Pour in tomato and French onion soups. Fill each can a quarter full with water to rinse the cans out. Pour into meat mixture. Add ketchup ,brown sugar and mustard if using. Mix thoroughly.
3. Let simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.
