Hearty and rich. THis isn't for dieters! Ingredients:
1/3 cup bacon drippings/ grease |
1/3 cup flour |
1 1/2 cups chopped onion. |
1 clove garlic. minced. |
2/3 cup chopped green pepper |
1 1/2 cups diced potato |
2 cups tomato puree (or 1 can 6 oz tomato paste and 2 cups cold water) |
1 1/2 quarts water |
1 tbs worcestershire |
12 whole cloves |
dash tobasco |
1 tbs paprika |
1 crumbled bay leaf |
1 tbs salt |
1/4 tsp pepper |
1 1/2 pounds fish fillets |
1 lemon, sliced |
Directions:
1. Cook dripping and flour slowly in large pot until the flour turns a toasted brown. 2. Add onion, garlic and green peppers. Cook 5 minutes. 3. Add potatoes, tomato puree, water and seasonings. 4. Cover, simmer for 30 minutes 5. Add fish that is cut into 1 inch pieces, cover and simmer 10 more minutes. 6. Add thin lemon slices as garnish. |
