Bayou Fish Chowder

Hearty and rich. THis isn't for dieters!
Ingredients:
1/3 cup bacon drippings/ grease
1/3 cup flour
1 1/2 cups chopped onion.
1 clove garlic. minced.
2/3 cup chopped green pepper
1 1/2 cups diced potato
2 cups tomato puree (or 1 can 6 oz tomato paste and 2 cups cold water)
1 1/2 quarts water
1 tbs worcestershire
12 whole cloves
dash tobasco
1 tbs paprika
1 crumbled bay leaf
1 tbs salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2 pounds fish fillets
1 lemon, sliced
Directions:
1. Cook dripping and flour slowly in large pot until the flour turns a toasted brown.
2. Add onion, garlic and green peppers. Cook 5 minutes.
3. Add potatoes, tomato puree, water and seasonings.
4. Cover, simmer for 30 minutes
5. Add fish that is cut into 1 inch pieces, cover and simmer 10 more minutes.
6. Add thin lemon slices as garnish.
