This is a nice and easy snack to make. It comes under under the heading of 'street foods of India'. Ingredients:
for potato balls |
250 gm. potatoes, boiled with skin, peeled and mashed |
1 tsp ginger garlic paste |
2 green chillies, finely chopped |
tbs. finely chopped coriander leaves |
4 tsp pomegranate seeds |
1 tsp. chat masala |
1/2 tsp sesam seeds |
2 tsp red chili powder |
2 tbsp lemone juice |
1 tbsp coriander powder |
1/4 tsp garam masala powder |
1 1/2 tbsp sugar |
salt as to taste |
oil for frying |
1 tsp saunf |
for batter |
1/2 cup or 120 gm. besan or gram flour |
salt as to taste |
1/4 tsp soda bi carb |
water as per requirment |
Directions:
1. Take a bowl add boil potatoes mash them add all potatoes ball ingredients. 2. With greased hands, make small balls. 3. Make a thick batter with of besan, soda salt water and add heat oil(2 tsp) mix well,make thick batter a coating consistency. 4. Heat oil in a wok or kadhai. To check the correct temperature, drop a tiny amount of batter into hot oil, it should fizz and rise to the surface quickly. 5. each balls dip it into the batter and drop gently into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crisp. 6. Serve hot with your favourite sauces or chutneys 7. note: remove the skin of potato before mash. |
