Hot tid bits warm up a casual gathering, these are melt in your mouth appetizers. Ingredients:
1 pound of montery jack cheese or feta |
2 eggs , slightly beaten |
1/4 fresh chopped basil or 1 tbs dried basil leaves |
1/4 white pepper |
1 package (16 ounces) frozen phyllo sheets (18 by 14 inches), thawed |
1/3 cup of butter , melted |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees, grease cookie sheet. 2. Crumble cheese into small bowl; mash with fork . 3. Stir eggs, basil and white pepper until mixed. 4. Cut phyllo sheets lengthwise into 2-inch strips. 5. cover with plastic wrap, then with damp towel to keep them from drying out. 6. Place 1 level Tsp cheese mixture on end of 1 strip. 7. fold strip over cheese mixture, end over end in triangular shape, 8. to opposite end. 9. Place on cookie sheet, repeat with remaning strips and cheese mixture, Brush triangles lightly with butter 10. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. |
