This recipe is great for beginning bakers. A very rich moist cake that's easy to make.
Ingredients:
1 cup butter-softened
1 2/3 cup sugar
3 eggs-room temperature
1/2 cup sour cream
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups cake flour-sifted
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cup whole milk-room temperature
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. Grease and flour three 9 round cake pans. Set aside.
3. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
4. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar. Beat on medium high until creamy.
5. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat butter mixture on medium high for 7-10 minutes.
6. Add vanilla and sour cream. Mix well.
7. Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternating with milk. Begin and end with flour. Mix until just combined after each addition.
8. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
9. Bake for in center of oven for 30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
10. Cool layers in pan for 10 minutes then turn out onto wire racks.
11. Cool completely then use the frosting of your choice.
