A basic tomato sauce that you can build on - add ground meat (turkey is our fav), or lots more veggies as you like! Ingredients:
1 can (28oz) tomatoes (diced or whole that you've hand diced) |
1 cup/can tomato paste |
1 onion, diced |
2-4 cloves garlic, minced |
olive oil |
salt |
pepper |
1+ tbsp parsley |
1+ tsp basil |
1+ tsp oregano |
red wine/red wine vinegar (optional) |
honey (optional) |
Directions:
1. Put olive oil in a skillet and add onion and garlic. Saute for a couple minutes till they begin to brown/soften. Add tomatos, tomato paste & spices and some red wine and a bit of honey if you like. Stir together and simmer till it has thickend to desired consistancy. Serve! |
