If I can make one of these then you can, I have only been baking for a short while, and they make for great snacks, theyy can be savoury with cream cheese, or sweet with jam and clotted cream. Ingredients:
225g self raising flour |
1/2tsp salt |
1 tsp sugar |
25g butter |
75ml milk |
2 tbsp water |
Directions:
1. Sift the flour and the salt into a bowl, then stir in the sugar. 2. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. 3. Pour in the liquid and beat until a soft dough is formed. 4. Knead gently for 3 minutes. 5. Pat the dough out until it is about 2cm thick then cut ito 5cm circles with a pastry cutter. 6. Transfer to a well greased baking sheet and lightly brush the tops with a little milk or beaten egg. 7. Put into the oven preheated to very hot (230C/450F or gas mark 8) and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. |
