A basic dahl, tasty enough to suit anyone's palate Ingredients:
a small onion, chopped |
a clove of garlic, crushed (optional) |
1 tablespoon butter |
1/2 cup brown lentils |
1/2 teaspoon cumin |
1/2 teaspoon turmeric |
1 tablespoon soy sauce |
1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce |
salt and black pepper |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in a saucepan on low heat, saute onion and garlic until softened. Stir in cumin (add turmeric after you've added lentils and covered with water.) Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for about half an hour. You may need to add more water if it gets dry. 2. Add soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce and salt and black pepper before serving with rice. |
