A nice dish to have when you want a change from that favorite rice casserole., Ingredients:
1/2 cup dry barley |
1/4 cup butter |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 (12 ounce) can chicken broth |
1 (8 ounce) can mushrooms, sliced |
1/2-3/4 cup french-fried onions |
1/2 cup slivered almonds |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in skillet. Brown barley and onion in butter. When golden brown, place in a casserole dish with broth, mushrooms slices (including water) and almonds. 2. Cover, bake about 1 hour. Before serving, sprinkle with French fried onions and recover. Let let for 5 minutes before serving. |
