BARLEY CHIPS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Novell Estate in Fort Worth, Texas in 1982. Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1/2 cup barley flour |
1/2 cup rolled barley |
2 tablespoons granulated sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 stick butter softened |
1/2 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325. 2. In food processor stir together flours, barley, sugar and salt. 3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. 4. Add enough of the milk to form dough that will hold together in a cohesive ball. 5. Divide dough into 2 equal portions for rolling then on a floured surface or pastry cloth. 6. Roll out to 1/4 and cut into 2 circles or squares and place on lightly greased baking sheet. 7. Prick each cracker in 3 places with tines of a fork and bake 25 minutes then cool on wire rack. |
