My mother-in-law created this simple version of stuffed cabbage . Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
2 -3 small onions, chopped |
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes |
1 small cabbage, coarsely chopped |
2 (5 1/2 ounce) packages of lipton beef flavored rice and sauce mix |
4 1/2 cups water, divided |
Directions:
1. Brown meat and onions in a dutch oven. 2. Add tomatoes, cabbage, and 1 1/2 cups water. 3. Cook covered on medium high heat for 20 minutes. 4. Stir occasionally. 5. Add packages of rice and 3 cups of water to pot. 6. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes. 7. Stir frequently. |
