This recipe is perfect for those nights when we need a quick meal. Served with coleslaw & french fries, or just chips, it's very satisfying. I received this several years ago from a friend. Ingredients:
2 lbs lean ground beef |
1 small onion, chopped |
1/2 green pepper, chopped |
1/2 cup celery, chopped |
1 garlic clove, minced |
1 (14 ounce) bottle ketchup |
1/2 cup water |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
2 tablespoons white vinegar |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
Directions:
1. In a large skillet or dutch oven combine the ground beef, onion, green pepper, celery, & garlic. Cook over medium heat stirring frequently to break up the meat until it is thoroughly cooked. 2. Add ketchup, water, mustard, vinegar,& brown sugar to the ground beef mixture & stir until combined. 3. Simmer 30 minutes covered stirring occasionally. Serve on hamburger buns. |
