This recipe is what my Grandaddy Tuttle used to make. It's the only barbecue sauce I've ever made and though I find some similar in the stores, nothing beats this sauce. I grew up on it and it's my favorite hands down! Until I found this recipe, I didn't know the actual amounts! Ingredients:
1 medium onion, chopped |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons vinegar |
4 tablespoons brown sugar |
4 tablespoons lemon juice |
1 cup catsup |
1/2 teaspoon parsley |
1/2 tablespoon prepared mustard |
1/2 cup water |
3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
cayenne pepper |
Directions:
1. Brown onion in butter. 2. Add remaining ingredients. 3. Simmer 30 minutes. 4. Refrigerates well. |
