This is the recipe my family has used for decades. When I was growing up it was often used on an eye roast of beef cooked in a rotisserie or on grilled chicken. I have also found that it makes the best beef barbeque. Ingredients:
1/4 cup oil |
1 minced onion |
2 tablespoons cider vinegar |
3 tablespoons lemon juice |
1 cup tomato sauce |
1 cup water |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon celery salt |
1 tablespoon mustard |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper |
1 dash agnostura bitters |
Directions:
1. Heat oil, add onion and cook over low heat for 3 minutes. 2. Stir in remaining ingredients. 3. Simmer till thick, about 20 minutes. 4. Yield about 2 cups. |
