This recipe comes from Better Homes and Gardens, Junior Cook Book from 1955. My mom made these when she was a kid, and for us when we were kids! It's a nice sloppy joe style sandwich without the tomato sauce. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
2/3 cup chopped onion |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 dash pepper |
1/4 cup water |
1 can condensed chicken gumbo soup |
1 tablespoon ketchup |
1 tablespoon prepared mustard |
Directions:
1. Cook meat and onion together until meat is browned. 2. Add remaining ingredients and mix. 3. Cover; simmer gently over low heat 30 minutes. 4. Stir occasionally. 5. Spoon into 8 buns. |
