Simple recipe for bangers, mash and gravy Ingredients:
8 sausages |
8 potatoes, peeled and chopped |
2 teaspoons butter |
2 tablespoons sour cream |
1 dash salt (to taste) |
1 dash pepper (to taste) |
1 large onion, finely sliced |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
2 garlic cloves, finely sliced |
1/2 cup milk |
2 tablespoons brown onion soup mix |
350 ml water |
Directions:
1. Sausages:. 2. Place the sausages on a greased baking tray and place in a 180°C oven for 15-20 minutes until golden and cooked through. 3. Mash:. 4. Place the potatoes in a large pot, cover with water and allow to cook for 15-20 minutes until they are soft. 5. Mash with the butter, sour cream and the seasonings. 6. Gravy:. 7. Fry the onions in a bit of oil very gently until softened and starting to colour (about 20-25 minutes). 8. Add the sugar and the garlic and turn the heat up. Allow the sugar to melt and everything to go a bit jam-like. 9. Mix the brown onion soup powder with the milk 10. Add the milk and water and allow to thicken. Check the seasoning and adjust. Serve over the sausages and mash. |
