This dessert was popular before most of you were born, I would guess! It's a classy but very tasty dessert . Most of the alcohol dissipates when cooked. Ingredients:
2 tbsp. unsalted butter |
2 tbsp. light or dark brown sugar |
pinch ground cinnamon |
pinch freshly ground nutmeg |
2 small bananas cut in half lengthwise |
1/4 cup drambuie or other liqueur |
1/4 cup dark rum |
2 scoops vanilla ice cream |
Directions:
1. In a 10-inch skillet or sauté pan over medium heat, melt butter. 2. Add sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg: mix well. 3. Add bananas and sauté until they begin to soften (about 1 minute on each side.) 4. Pour in liqueur and rum. 5. Heat the liqueur, then remove from flames . 6. Tilt pan to ignite liqueur. 7. Do not ignite your eyebrows; must be over 21 to make :) 8. Shake pan slightly to prolong flames. 9. When flames burn out, place 2 banana halves on each serving plate. 10. Place a scoop of ice cream between the banana halves and spoon the sauce over all. 11. I use a banana liqueur instead of drambuie. 12. Serves 2. |
