This bread is so moist, so delicious. And it makes a huge amount! Be sure to give some away to the neighbors, they'll love you for it! This one has the sweet crumbly topping, which adds just that little something extra.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup butter
3 cups white sugar
3 eggs
6 bananas, mashed
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
16 oz sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tsp baking soda
4 1/2 cups white flour
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white flour
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300. Grease 4 7x3 loaf pans. In a small bowl, stir together 1/4 white sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon. Dust pans lightly with cinn/sugar mix.
2. In a large bowl, cream butter and 3 cups sugar. Mix in eggs, mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla.
3. In a separate bowl, stir together the cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt, baking soda, and flour. Mix dry ingredients into the wet. Stir in Nuts. Divide evenly into prepared pans.
4. In a separate smaller bowl, mix together the brown sugar, 1/2 c. flour, 3 T butter (slightly melted), 1 t cinnamon, and 1/3 cup chopped walnuts. Mix until the butter is absorbed thoroughly. Sprinkle over top of batter.
5. Bake for 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
6. *if you (like me) don't have 4 7x3 loaf pans, (I used 2 loaf pans and 1 cake pan) - Up the heat to 325 and bake for 1 hr and 10 minutes.
