I really love the challenge of taking great recipes and making them healthy...not the low carb, high-protein, fad diet type of healthy....but the way my first grader learned nutrition in school as did I years ago....the basic science of eating.... This is one fun breakfast smoothie that is filling, low fat, low cal, reminds me of the date cookies my grandma used to make :) I adjusted it from a weight watchers cook book to suit my taste buds. Ingredients:
1 ripe banana |
1 ripe peach, skin removed & pitted |
1/4 cup pitted dates, no sugar added, natural |
1 cup plain fat-free yogurt |
1/4 cup soy protein powder, unflavored |
1/2 cup pineapple juice, unsweetened |
2 tablespoons toasted wheat germ |
1 teaspoon honey |
1 cup ice cube |
Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree. Serve in glasses. |
