This is my oldest daughter's favorite banana nut bread Recipe. She brings over overripe bananas all the time, so I will make this bread. It goes fast. Really moist bread. Not overly sweet. Great warm with butter or cream cheese. Found this recipe in a Home and Garden Party cookbook years ago. Ingredients:
1 cup margarine |
2 1/2 cups sugar |
6 tablespoons buttermilk |
5 very ripe bananas |
1 cup nuts (finely chopped) |
4 eggs |
3 cups all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and flour. Add vanilla, mashed bananas and nuts. Beat well with mixer. 2. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour. |
