BANANA FUDGE TORTE This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Hamilton Estate in Allen, Texas in 2001. Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar |
1/2 cup butter softened |
3/4 cup mashed ripe bananas |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 eggs |
2 cups all purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup sour cream |
1/2 cup chopped nuts |
filling |
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips |
1/2 cup powdered sugar |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons milk |
1/4 teaspoon vanilla |
sweetened whipped cream |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350. 2. Grease and flour a square cake pan. 3. In large bowl beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy. 4. Add bananas, vanilla and 2 eggs then mix well. 5. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and level off. 6. Gradually add 2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt then mix well. 7. Blend in sour cream then stir in nuts and pour batter into pan and bake at 350 for 45 minutes. 8. Cool 5 minutes then remove from pan and cool completely. 9. In saucepan over low heat melt chocolate chips, powdered sugar, butter and milk. 10. Stir occasionally then remove from heat and stir in vanilla then cool completely. 11. To assemble cake slice cooled cake horizontally into 2 layers then spread filling between layers. 12. Serve with sweetened whipped cream and store any leftovers in refrigerator. |
