Banana, almonds, and cocoa powder turn plain quick oats into a tasty breakfast. Ingredients:
1 cup milk |
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder |
2 1/2 tablespoons turbinado sugar |
1/2 teaspoon almond extract |
1 large banana, slightly mashed |
1/2 cup quick cooking oats |
1/4 cup blanched slivered almonds |
Directions:
1. Whisk the milk, cocoa powder, turbinado sugar, and almond extract together in a saucepan over medium-low heat until the sugar has dissolved; bring the mixture to a simmer. 2. Stir the mashed banana and oatmeal into the milk mixture; cook at a simmer until the oatmeal is thickened and the banana has broken up slightly, about 5 minutes. Fold the slivered almonds into the oatmeal to serve. |
