Does anyone know what Spry is? It looks like on the internet Spry is shortening. Ingredients:
1 1/2 c. white sugar |
1/2 c. butter |
2 eggs |
1 c. mashed bananas |
1 tsp. soda |
4 tbsps. sour milk |
1/2 c. nut meats (optional |
2 c. sifted flour |
salt |
vanilla |
Directions:
1. Cream sugar and butter, stir in eggs not beaten, add bananas mixed with soda. 2. Add milk, flour, nuts, salt and vanilla. 3. Bake 30-35 minutes in 2 greased and lightly floured 9 inch cake pans. 350 degrees. 4. Frost with Sanders Butter Cream Frosting. 5. ==================================================== 6. Sanders Butter Cream Frosting 7. Beat 1 egg white stiff. 8. Add 1 c white sugar-1 teaspoon at a time and keep beating. 9. Boil 1 cup of milk and add 1 teaspoon at a time to the egg white mixture-then let cool. 10. Cream 1/2 cup butter (1/4 pound) and 1/2 cup Spry. 11. Then add the cooled mixture 1 teaspoon at a time to the creamed butter and Spry. 12. Spread on cake. 13. Sufficient for 2 layer or large cake. |
