This is my friend's favorite comfort food from a country lnn. This is her the ULTIMATE breakfast item....If you like the richness of it, you'll love it too, just like I we do! Ingredients:
banana bread |
2 1/2 cup flour (all purpose) |
1 cup sugar |
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder |
1 tsp. salt |
3 tbls. salad oil |
3/4 cup whole milk |
1 egg |
4 bananas |
1 cup finely chopped nuts (optional) |
for the french toast batter |
use 8 eggs and 1/3 cup of milk-for 1 loaf of banana bread. |
for the carmel sauce |
1/2 cup melted buttter |
1/2 cup whipped cream |
1 cup packed brown sugar |
Directions:
1. For the banana bread: 2. Heat oven to 350. 3. Grease and flour 9x5x3 loaf pan. 4. Measure all ingredients into large mixer bowl; beat on medium speed 1/2 minute, 5. scraping side and bottom of bowl. 6. Pour into pan. 7. Bake 55-65 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean. 8. Remove from pan. 9. Cool before slicing. 10. Slice bread into 12-14 slices. Don't use the ends. 11. The griddle works great for a big crowd. 12. For the french toast dipping and cooking: 13. Just dip like any other french toast. Griddle till done. 14. For a big crowd, make them ahead of time; put them in the oven (325F) in foil. 15. For the carmel sauce: 16. Combine butter, cream, and sugar in saucepan. 17. Bring to boil over medium heat, stir to mix well; reduce heat. 18. Cook for 5 minutes, do not stir, set aside. 19. Yields 1 1/4 cups 20. Serve with fresh fruit, powdered sugar, or whipped cream of your choice; sprinkle with cinnamon... |
