About 25 years ago, when money was tight, as part of my birthday gift, my sister compiled a scribbler filled with all her favorite recipes. This recipe for banana bread was one of them. Ingredients:
1 cup white sugar |
1/2 cup shortening |
2 eggs |
1/2 cup milk (i use 1%) |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 bananas (mashed) |
2 cups flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar. 2. Add eggs and mix well. 3. Add milk & vanilla. 4. Next add bananas. 5. Add dry ingredients and beat until well combined. 6. Pour into greased loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes at 350 degrees. |
