Saw this in a recipe book and am posting for safekeeping. I thought it looked interesting and since I do cake decorating I'm always looking at frosting recipes. Ingredients:
3 cups vegetable shortening |
4 cups confectioners' sugar |
2 teaspoons clear vanilla |
1 teaspoon salt |
4 tablespoons cornstarch |
4 egg whites |
8 cups confectioners' sugar |
Directions:
1. Whip the shortening, 4 cups sugar, vanilla, salt and cornstarch together until fluffy. Add the egg whites and remaining sugar alternately and whip till light and fluffy. 2. You may use pasteurized whites if you like. I find that they turn white icing a funny color, gives the frosting a yellow cast. That certainly doesn't work with a wedding cake! 3. This recipe can be easily halved. |
