Baker's Chocolate Caramel Bars |

I got this from an old Baker's cookbook. It's actually similar to a revel bar. Really good warm and fudgy! Ingredients:
25 pieces kraft caramels |
1/2 cup evaporated milk |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1 cup quick-cooking oats |
3/4 cup packed brown sugar |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
3/4 cup butter or 3/4 cup margarine, softened |
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips |
1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350. 2. Melt caramels and evaporated milk on low hear or microwave on MEDIUM power for 5 minutes, stirring until smooth. 3. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt in large mixing bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Press half of mixture into an 8-inch square pan. 4. Bake for 10 minutes. 5. Sprinkle chocolate chips and walnuts evenly over baked crust. 6. Pour caramel mixture on top. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. 7. Bake 20-25 minutes longer, or until golden. Cool; cut into bars. |
