Another vintage recipe from the Crawford Estate I purchased in 1982. This is good, I have tried it and really enjoy it. Hope you do too. Ingredients:
oranges |
1 teaspoon butter per orange |
1 tablespoon brown sugar per orange |
3 cups water |
1-1/2 cup sugar |
Directions:
1. Lightly grate skin of oranges then boil oranges gently 30 minutes in water to cover then cool. 2. Remove blossom ends and cores. 3. In center of each orange place butter and brown sugar then put in baking dish. 4. Make syrup by boiling water and sugar for 2 minutes. 5. Pour syrup in baking dish 2/3 covered. 6. Cover and bake at 375 for 2 hours or until skin is tender basting twice. 7. Serve as dessert or with poultry. |
