Pears with port wine Ingredients:
2 medium fresh bartlett pears |
1/2 cup port wine |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 1/2 inches cinnamon sticks |
3 whole cloves |
1 dash salt |
3 thin lemon slices |
Directions:
1. Pare, halve, and core pears; place in 1-quart baking dish. 2. In a saucepan, combine remaining ingredients; add a few drops red food coloring if desired. 3. Bring to boiling; pour over pears. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 20 minute. 4. Uncover and bake 10 minutes or till tender, basting once or twice. 5. Serve hot, or chill and top with whipped cream. |
