Ingredients:
2-1/2 cup(s) all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon(s) dry mustard |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/8 teaspoon(s) ground red pepper |
2 package(s) cream cheese (8 ounces each) softened |
3/4 cup(s) butter softened |
2 tablespoon(s) butter |
6 cup(s) yellow onions coarsely chopped |
2 tablespoon(s) brown sugar firmly packed |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground black pepper |
1/4 teaspoon(s) curry powder |
1/8 teaspoon(s) ground red pepper |
Directions:
1. For pastry, combine flour, dry mustard, salt, and red pepper in a medium bowl. Process cream cheese and butter in a food processor. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and process just until blended. Divide dough into fourths and wrap in plastic wrap; chill 1 hour. 2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. For filling, melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions; cook just until onions soften. Stir in brown sugar. Continue to cook until onions are lightly browned and sugar is dissolved; remove from heat. Stir in salt, black pepper, curry powder, and red pepper. Roll out one fourth of dough into a 9-inch square. Cut into 3-inch squares. Place about 1 rounded teaspoon onion mixture in center of each square. Fold dough over filling to form a triangle; use a fork to crimp edges together. Turn pastries over and crimp edges again. Prick tops of pastries with a fork. Transfer to a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Repeat with remaining dough and filling. Serve warm. 3. Yield: about 3 dozen appetizers |
