Just a plain old mac and cheese.. few ingredents... topped with fresh tomato slices and baked till creamy and bubbly... Yummmy McCalls... 1970 Ingredients:
1 package 8oz elbow macaroni |
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup flout |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper... i use white and more |
2 cups whole milk |
2 cups 8 oz chedder cheese grated |
1 large juicy tomato thick sliced |
1 tablespoon dried parsley or 2 fresh |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375f 2. cook macaroni as package directs.. drain 3. while cooking macaroni, melt butter in medium saucepan 4. Remove from heat 5. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth 6. Gradually stir in milk 7. Bring to a boil, stirring 8. Reduce heat and simmer 1-2 minutes 9. Stir in 1 1/2 cup cheese and the cooked macaroni. 10. Pour into a 1 1/2 quart shallow casserole dish. 11. Arrange tomato slices over top 12. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top 13. Sprinkle parsley on cheesd 14. Bake about 15 minutes un covered until cheese is golden brown 15. ENJOY |
