Overall good, mild Mac and Cheese Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
2 1/2 cups milk |
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese |
1 lb elbow macaroni |
1/4 cup breadcrumbs |
paprika |
Directions:
1. In saucepan, melt butter. Remove from heat. 2. Blend in flour, salt and mustard, until smooth. 3. Over the heat, add milk slowly, and mix, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens a little and is smooth. 4. Add 1 1/2 cups of the cheese and heat until melted, stirring occasionally. 5. Meanwhile, cook macaroni according to the package. Drain. 6. Combine the macaroni with the sauce into a 2-quart casserole. 7. Top with the remaining cheese, breadcrumbs and a bit of paprika. 8. Bake at 375°F for about 20 to 25 minutes or until nicely browned and bubbly. |
