I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this recipe. It's my all time favorite comfort food. They wouldn't let me add the noodles I actually use. Barilla sells it it is called cellatini. They are corkscrew noodles that the cheese just clings to. Ingredients:
1/2 sweet onion (chopped) |
16 ounces elbow macaroni |
1/2 lb cooper sharp cheese |
1 cup milk |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1 teaspoon all-purpose flour |
italian seasoned breadcrumbs, for topping |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven 375°F. 2. Cook the noodles as directed on the box. 3. While the noodles are cooking, Sautee the onions until they are caramelized. To the caramelized onions add the cheese, the milk and the tsp of sugar and flour. Stir till well blended. 4. Drain the noodles and place them in a 9x13 pan. 5. Pour the cheese mix over the noodles 6. Sprinkle the Italian bread crumbs over the top. 7. Bake for 30 minutes till the top is golden brown and bubbling. |
