A recipe that is simply done, and cobines different ingredients to an excellent result. Found in French Cooking in the New World I use Moselle Valley Reisling; likewise its important that you use pure maple syrup, as corn syrup doesn't get it done! Ingredients:
4 bosc pears |
1 cup dry riesling wine |
2 tablespoons maple syrup |
1 tablespoon sugar |
Directions:
1. Cut pears in half lengthwise, but do not peel them. 2. Remove the cores, and place the pears, cut side up, in a nonreactive casserole. 3. Fill the hollow within the pear with wine, then pour the maple syrup over the pears. Sprinkle with sugar on top. 4. Bake pears in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes, until tender. |
