This is a recipe I got from a good friend several years ago. She now has a successful catering business and serves this when she caters brunch. Enjoy Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups milk |
6 eggs |
1/3 cup maple syrup |
3 tablespoons granulated sugar divided |
1 tablespoon grated orange peel |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
8 slices french bread |
4 cups pitted fresh sweet cherries halved |
1/2 cup orange juice |
vanilla yogurt |
Directions:
1. Combine milk, eggs, syrup, 2 tablespoons sugar, orange peel and salt then mix well. 2. Pour half of mixture into each of two 9 square baking dishes. 3. Dip both sides of each slice of bread in milk mixture then arrange in same baking dish. 4. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. 5. Marinate cherries in orange juice and remaining 1 tablespoon sugar overnight. 6. Preheat oven to 400 then carefully transfer bread slices to a nonstick buttered baking sheet. 7. Bake 15 minutes then turn slices over halfway through baking time. 8. Top each slice with1/2cup cherries and a dollop of vanilla yogurt then serve immediately. |
