In summer you can buy figs cheaply and cannot eat them quickly enough - so this recipe is handy for a dessert when the figs need a bit of help! Ingredients:
12 figs |
2 cups red wine |
1/4 cup brandy |
1 tablespoon caster sugar |
lemon zest, strip |
1 cinnamon stick |
Directions:
1. Place all ingredients in a casserole. 2. Cover with foil, punching a few holes in the foil. 3. Preheat oven to 190 Degrees Celsius. 4. Bake for 40 minutes. 5. Allow figs to cool in the syrup, then remove and reduce syrup to half in a small saucepan over a medium flame. 6. Serve figs with syrup and yoghurt or ice cream. |
