A hot cheesy crab spread for the holidays. There are a gazillion variations on this spread.......this one was given to me years ago by a neighbor. Ingredients:
2 t butter or margarine |
1/2 c chopped red bell pepper |
2 t sliced green onion |
1 garlic clove, minced |
2 t flour |
1/4 t white pepper |
1 c milk |
1/4 c grated parmesan |
1/2 c crabmeat |
1 oz shredded cheddar |
Directions:
1. 350 oven 2. 9 inch pie plate, greased 3. Melt butter 4. Add bell pepper, onion and garlic; cook and sitr until veggies are tender 5. Stir in flour and pepper, cook 1 minute 6. Gradually add milk, cook until mixture bubbles, stirring constantly 7. Stir in Parmesan cheese 8. Remove from heat, fold in crabmeat 9. Pour into pan; sprinkle with cheddar 10. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted 11. Serve with Melba rounds or party rye, pumpernickel |
