A slightly different twist on baked apples. Found this old magazine clipping in my recipe file. Ingredients:
8 large cooking apples |
1 1/2 cups granola cereal |
1/4 cup brown sugar |
sour cream or yogurt |
Directions:
1. Cut a slice from the top of each apple. 2. Core the apples. 3. Carefully remove the apple pulp, leaving a shell approximately 1/2-in. thick. 4. Chop the pulp and mix with granola and brown sugar. 5. Spoon mixture into apple shells. 6. Bake, covered, for 25 minutes and 400 degrees. 7. Uncover and bake 10-15 minutes more. 8. Serve with sour cream or yogurt. |
