sweet treat for the fall, ice cream is optional and you can mix the nuts up. it calls for walnuts but i had pecans on hand Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water |
3/4 cup splenda brown sugar |
3 tablespoons smart balance spread |
1/4 tsp nutmeg |
1/4 tsp cinnamon |
1/4 cup pecan pieces |
1/3 cup raisins |
6 cortland apples |
Directions:
1. preheat oven to 350 2. in a saucepan, stir in brown sugar, water, butter, nutmeg and cinnamon 3. bring mixture to a simmer and cook 5 minutes to make a syrup 4. core and peel top third of your apples 5. place them in a baking pan 6. fill them with nuts and raisins 7. pour syrup over 8. bake for 40 minutes 9. serve them warm and with ice cream if you'd like |
