Baked Apple Or Green Mango Dumplings |

4 cups apples or green mangoes |
4 cups flour |
1 cup butter or margarine |
8 tsp. baking powder |
1 1/3 cups milk |
cinnamon or nutmeg |
syrup |
3 cups |
water |
1 tablespoon butter |
Directions:
1. Peel, cut in chunks, and partially cook the apples or mangoes with sugar to taste 2. Make a biscuit dough of the next four ingredients. Roll out 1/4 in. thick. Cut in squares (5 or 6 in.); put several pieces of fruit in each; sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg and fold into a ball. 3. Place in baking pan. 4. SYRUP 5. Boil up the syrup ingredients and pour over the dumplings. 6. Bake in a hot oven until brown. 7. Serve with whipped cream or a sauce. |
