Baked Almond Twists

Makes 24 twisted cookies.
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
4 tbsp ground almonds
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup butter,cut into pieces
1 egg ,beaten
Directions:
1. Combine flour,ground almonds and sugar.
2. Cut in cold butter till mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
3. Add egg.Work to a dough and shape a ball.
4. Chill 1/2 an hour.
5. Remove dough from the fridge and make small balls of dough and roll into thin cylinders.
6. Twist the cylinders and place on a greased cookie sheet,leaving a little space between them.
7. Bake at 170 C for about 10 - 12 minutes.
8. Remove them from the oven as soon as the edges turn golden.
9. Leave on the cookie sheet for 2-3 minutes to cool a bit,then delicately detatch them from the sheet.
10. Leave to cool on a wire-rack.
