Bacon-Wrapped Water Chestnuts |

I adapted this recipe from the cookbook Dine with the Tribe put together by the Cleveland Indians Wives Assocation. This is a crowd pleasing appetizer. The only bad thing is the prep time takes a while. Ingredients:
2 cups brown sugar |
2 (12 ounce) packages of regular bacon |
2 (8 ounce) cans water chestnuts |
toothpick |
Directions:
1. Soak the toothpicks in water. 2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 3. Cut the bacon in half horizontally. 4. Generously rub pinches of brown sugar on both sides of the bacon. 5. Roll a waterchestnut in the bacon. 6. Secure with a toothpick. 7. Place on a greased pan. 8. Repeat until all the bacon is used up. 9. Bake for 15 minutes or until bacon is crispy. |
