Great football watching food, the guys love this! Ingredients:
4 bratwurst |
3 (12) ounce cans light beer |
5 t brown sugar |
1 t cayenne pepper or to taste |
6 slices bacon, cut in half (i like to use the precooked so it comes out nice and crispy, not underdone) |
Directions:
1. Poke bratwurst several times with a fork 2. Place in s large saucepan with the beer 3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer for 15 minutes 4. Remove bratwurst from the beer and let cool to room temperature 5. Preheat oven to 425 degrees 6. Line a baking sheet with foil, and place a wire rack on top 7. Toss the brown sugar with the cayenne pepper in a large bowl and set aside 8. Cut each bratwurst into three pieces and wrap each piece with half strip of bacon 9. Secure with a toothpick 10. Toss the brats with the brown sugar mixture to coat 11. Place on the rack on the foiled lined pan 12. Bake until the bacon is done about 25-35 minutes if using raw bacon. The precooked doesn't take as long 13. Serve with the sweet mustard dip 14. 1/2 cup sugar 15. 2 T ground mustard 16. 1/3 cup white vinegar 17. 1 egg 18. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and mustard 19. Whisk in vinegar and egg 20. Cook and stir over low heat for about 20 minutes or until thickened 21. Pour into ca container, cool, cover and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks. 22. Is great on ham sandwiches, too! |
