Yummy side dishes!! Ingredients:
1 tablespoon plus 1/2 teaspoon salt |
3 pints brussels sprouts, stem ends trimmed |
--each halved lengthwise |
8 strips thick-sliced bacon |
--cut crosswise into thin strips |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
3 tablespoons white-wine vinegar (3 to 4 tbsps) |
1 tablespoon unsalted butter |
Directions:
1. Fill 6-quart Dutch oven with water; add 1 Tbsp salt. Bring to a boil; add brussels sprouts. Reduce heat to medium; cook 12 minutes, until crisp-tender. Drain; rinse under cold water to stop cooking. 2. In large nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook bacon 5 minutes until slightly crisp. Pour off fat. Add onion to bacon in skillet; cook 5 minutes, until tender. Add sprouts, remaining salt and the pepper; heat through. Add vinegar and butter; cook, stirring, to melt butter. Serve. |
