Bacon Rice And Tomatoes

This is one of my most favorite comfort foods!!! How can you go wrong... it has BACON in it!!!!
Ingredients:
2 packages bacon, cut into 2 pieces
2 cans stewed tomatoes
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp sugar
salt & pepper to taste
rice – prepared per package directions – serving for 4 (i use a parboiled rice)
Directions:
1. Fry bacon in pan until it is done the way you like it (crispy or soft).
2. Drain bacon grease into bowl or cup – save for later.
3. Add tomatoes, water, and sugar.
4. Stir well. Add about 1/4 – 1/2 cup of the bacon grease.
5. Cook on medium-low heat for about 15 minutes.
6. Taste broth, add salt and pepper to your liking.
7. Cook for another 5 minutes.
8. Serve over rice.
