My children love croutons they eat them on salads and they eat them by themselves as a snack. They are easy to make and a great way to use up bread. Ingredients:
6 slices french bread, crusts trimmed |
2 tablespoons bacon drippings |
2 tablespoons olive oil |
1/2 teaspoon onion powder |
1 teaspoon poppy seed |
1/2 teaspoon sesame seed, toasted |
Directions:
1. Cube bread; set aside. 2. Heat remaining ingredients together in a 12 skillet over medium heat; stir in bread cubes until well coated. Remove from heat; spread mixture in a single layer on a rimmed ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 300 until golden and crisp, about 25-30 minutes. Cool. 3. About 2 cups. |
