Adapted from Breads of the World. Serve with soup. Do not freeze this. Ingredients:
5 slices bacon |
2 cups barley flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 cups milk |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 475°. 2. Saute bacon until crisp. 3. Drain, reserving fat. 4. Crumble bacon. 5. Combine flour with salt in a mixing bowl. 6. Add milk, bacon and all the bacon fat except 1 tablespoon. 7. Grease a 10 cake pan with the bacon fat. 8. Pour well-blended batter into pan. 9. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until top is light brown and cake tester comes out clean. 10. Cool slightly before removing from pan. |
