I am totally addicted to this soup! I got a recipe from a Chinese college buddy of mine- I've adapted it over the years- but it makes a lot & is filling! Great for apps or main course! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Read more !
Ingredients:
1 lb of ground pork
1/4 pound of minced shrimp (optional)
1 egg
1 head of napa cabbage
1 stalk of green onion - cut into 1/2 inches sections
1 can of water chestnuts
1 can of mushrooms
approximately 12 cups of chicken broth (i use low sodium)
worchester sauce to taste
soy sauce to taste
Directions:
1. Combine chicken broth, green onion, worchester sauce, & soy sauce in a large sauce pot... gradually warm (when you are almost done making the wontons you will increase heat to bring to a vigorous boil.)
2. Using a food processer mince the greens of the Napa cabbage, mushrooms, & water chestnuts- set aside.
3. In large bowl mix ground pork (if you add the shrimp, add it now), egg, and a few dashes of worchester sauce & soy sauce. Add the veggie mix from above.
4. get a small bowl of water to dip fingers in.
5. Take the wonton wrappers and add filling to centers of each- moisten sides, and fold like an envelope (most have instruction on packages)
6. Once you are done making wontons, drop them into boiling broth. Add any leftover pork mixture.
7. Boil for about 15 mintues.
8. Eat & Enjoy!!
